Anybody else look down on Nihilists with complete and utter disdain? It's absolute nonsense, lacking any sort of life affirmation, nihilism is the truest symptom of a weak-willed and pathetic person.

Imagine wasting away your life just because you realized there is no god, and instead of seeking out your own meaning to life you make being a dreadful, bleek, pessimistic bitch your life's mission. If youre a nihilst you need to either kill yourself or seriously get your shit together.

Nihilists are worse than Christians, Muslims, jews, etc., save the extremists. Even then I would rather hang out with an abortion clinic bomber than a nihilist.

With that said, lets help the Nihilists. Nietzsche is the obvious writer and philosopher to read if you want to be inspired towards life affirmation, but other than him, who else could one read?

I look around people my age and they're all so sarcastic and lifeless. They've totally and utterly internalized the stupidity of the world and seen fit to just use alcoholism, video games and Rick and Morty memes as their "purpose" in life.

Of course, it's not entirely their fault. Our globalist, late capitalism nightmare is about as spiritually damning a civilization can get. It's only inevitable a few willlets will be psychologically crushed by it all.

Nihilism is fun and a realistic perspective of existence. It's dangerous, of course, because the majority of people that have, or gain, that outlook on life will most likely be, like you said, leeches or unproductive members of society. Then again, these two former categories tend to appear in any other group, regardless of the meaning they perceive.

If you can't believe in God, despite wanting to, and know that the universe is on a one way entropic trip towards oblivion, what other ideology will you inevitability fall into?

Furthermore, it doesn't necessarily stop a person to do their best. Just remembers them that if anything goes wrong, it doesn't really matter.

Nihilists are right in the sense that there is no intrinsic meaning to life (or at least none that we can know with certainty), therefore the best they can hope for is a text that points them towards finding meaning on a personal level. For obvious reasons, there is no way to make the personal universally applicable and therefore it's impossible to point to a text that universally changes nihilists' outlook in such a profound way that they will start seeking their own meaning. What strongly resonates with one nihilist may utterly fail to impact another; the text has to be personally relatable to them in some way. Even Nietzsche knew that his philosophy wasn't for everyone.

I think you might not have great knowledge of how Nietzche's thought evolved. Schopenhauer's nihilistic writings really inspire Nietzche and through nihilism, he developed his life affirming philosophy. Slave morality is worse than just finding no objective meaning in the universe. Nihilism isn't just rejecting the existence of god. It's a break down phase that should prompt people to stop being dependent for meaning and to begin creating their own meaning in this world through their own wills.
