The Good Soldier Švejk

I had a great time reading this book, but I don't remember in any detail the way Svejk was brilliant.
I love that, the character that plays dumb while messing with others, like in I Claudius. Nasreddin does that too.
Anyway. Does anyone remember any detail of how Schweik was a clever bastard? I miss that, and I want to reminiscence it.
Or does anyone know of any other haracter like him?

Jah sometimes Svejk is playing people but sometimes he is just plain dumb.

My favorite bit was when Svjek stands guard near a wall on which 'general x is homo' is written (or something like that). And then Svjek writes his name under the graffiti, like he wrote it, and gets into trouble.

I busted a gut laughing at that. It's clearly the stupidest thing you could in that sotuation and there's no reason to do it.

I never finished the book though, is it worth it reading it to the end?

it gets a bit repetitive towards the end, but there's still some laughs here and there. it's also funny to see how the last pages are just descriptions of food while at the same time hasek ate himself to death
