Unfortunately, OP, you're not going to like the answer. You need to do a lot of research about whatever you want to write about. You need to change your habits, break out of routine. For instance, if you'd like to include scenes in a halfway house, you should research them, visit them, talk to people who stay or have stayed in them, etc. Curiosity, inquisitiveness, and diligence.
