Look at the title.

What is the purpose of writing fiction, in your opinion? What is it useful for? Why does it exist?

My take is that writing communicates a subjective character of existence which allows one to broaden their perceptions. The purpose of writing is to communicate the internal world that composes much of what a personality is. Who doesn't wish to construct a more coherent, robust, and ultimately compelling personality?

This leads me to my follow up question: what would communicating your internal world mean to you?
