We should get much better writers in the 21st century now that keyboards are commonplace and you're able to edit your work with more ease. Theoretically it should incur more doubt in artist but I think that being able to eradicate shit prose faster will prove as beneficial. And you can also type faster than on that shit.

I've heard the popular opinion to be the exact opposite of this. Auto correct can and is compared to a tool which thinks for you, spells for you ect. I know that when you stop letting things like spell check and word count get in the way, you get more creative freedom because you worry less.
