Joking aside I'm a big fan of S.H. I think it's hugely underappreciated.

It's been many years since I read it last and I can still remember huge chunks of it, which is usually the sign of something good IMO. The whole section at the end of My Daughter Is Unhappy, where he remembers her as a baby and a little girl, for example... just magnificent.

I want to get into Heller but I haven't gotten past like the first fourth of catch 22. He's one of those Vonnegut style authors where I do like him but I feel like I could be reading better books than his. The only leg he and Vonnegut have up on authors I respect more is that even shitty libraries tend to at least have a couple of library of America Vonnegut hardcover collections and Catch 22 whereas my favorites would likely only show up to any extent in university libraries.

His best book. His rambling is hypnotic and obsessive in the best of ways.

Heller's second best book, but to me one of the most underrated male crisis books of the 20th century

There, fixed it. It's a perfect war and burocracy are idiotic book, no need for anything else.
