it was good. I liked all the history with Trujillo and how the story wove into that. But having read Drown and then waiting forever on Wao, I was somewhat underwhelmed.
I wouldn't ever make the contention that he was top-5-Am-lit level, but Drown was pretty great. Diaz can really write when he wants to but his popularity I think is more meme status since plebs latched onto Wao's nerd culture signals similar to Ready Player One.

Well, this is from my experience. I'm not a fan of poetry in English tbqh much less American poetry. Philosophy? Americans are anything but philosophers. But yeah, painting should've been a 7 at least. And they are the most skilled at filmmaking, so the 10 seems fair imo. Music?
