Comedy is the hardest form of writing to do. Especially in the digital age when the pool of original ideas is shrinking smaller and smaller. Why are there never any comedy literature or comedy writing threads on /lit/?

Maybe it's because comedy is easier to get jaded towards, especially as a 4chan user. So what is comedic can be very subjective. But that brings up the point: can there be an objective comedy or is comedy just based on culture and one's tastes?

i think seeing it as an objective/subjective distinction misses the point. the existence of comedy itself is predicated on its recognition by a subject, whether or not that comedic content is necessarily tied to a cultural norm of the time or something more inherent in the human experience that transcends temporality or cultural reference.

it is shaped and it shapes.

Dickens, Austen, Wilde, why were the Victorians so witty?
