I've literally written a fanfic that's considered a big deal in a fandom, and I don't really respect fanfiction writers. I enjoyed writing what I wrote, and I wouldn't go back and undo it if I had the choice; it was a good learning experience. But there's a point at which, if you have any talent or passion for writing, you simply outgrow fanfiction.

Because it's a shame seeing truly great artists, of which I can say there are at least three or four dozen of, using their skill on porn. And before you say, "What about great writers? How is them writing porn not an equal misuse?" Let me counter with this:
Think up the amount of time it takes the average person to get through 10k words. Now take that time and divide it by the average amount of seconds the typical person spends looking at a piece of hentai. Then factor how many hours it takes the average drawing. The hentai is requiring a lot more manpower! It saddens me.

>The hentai is requiring a lot more manpower! It saddens me
To a far more universal end. Words will always be a stand-in that hijack the imaging centers, while visual art is a softball fired at the visual cortex. I'd say the time and effort is totally justified. Plus, creating things that are "naughty" has an incentive to the creator. That's powerful evolutionary magic they're working with.

Maybe the effort spent is justified in some eyes. I admit I enjoy it, but I still deem it less ethical. You know I wish 4chan had a board dedicated to erotica. A board with super-long per post word limits. That would be so good. Hey, we got /aco/ and /his/, maybe /ero/ could be next. Though I guess that kind of thing is unpopular to most men, and we all know how male-heavy the demographics are.

>> No.11047051

>>11047037
What? I've seen lots of anons appreciate people posting smut and whatnot, especially of requests. It might be a little too small for a whole board, but it would certainly get attention.

After people throw all the archives and depositories into pastebins and leave backlogs in a sticky, the only threads made will be recommendation, critique/meta, and OC. Writing takes time so I think the board would be rather slow like /i/. The People stupidly hold boards as sacred, with new ones to be made only if there's a problem to solve. The board would be functionally slow and there's not many people who are interested so it won't get made any time soon. RIP.

Because those lines are junk, and the author of the meme can't tell.

Fanfic by definition can't be published, so it's basically just masturbation. Which makes sense because most of it is just pornography.

>> No.11048394

As a fanfic writer I don't read other fanfics because they're all shit, mine included of course. It's just masturbation into a void. Nothing truly interesting can occur from such an exercise.
