This thread again? The last two times this thread has been posted, I said it, and I’ll say it a third time: the Bible is an esoteric work. Jesus taught mindfulness and self-observation practices. The enemies in the Psalms that the speaker asks God to protect him from are the enemies of vices and attachments to the material world which make us “asleep”. And so on. You can find it all in the early writings of the Gnostics and even Desert Fathers.
