throw away your phone and your computer
go on a week long trip in the wilderness with nothing but your books

Utlize the time you would spend making and lurking and replying to this thread reading instead
Get a flip fone, only use the computer in public places

habits
turn your phone off, read an hour after you have breakfast

Bump because I am in the same boat as op and I think reading will help me escape brainletism. Will it?

Without books, too. OP will start actually seeing the world as the fog clears. After that, if he stays off social media, reading should be easy and enriching (rather than motivated by 'I should do this').

put your phone in the other room, and set aside some time just for reading. it doesn't have to be a long time, 15 minutes is fine. just enough to get used to reading without getting distracted by something else. keep on doing that, and it will keep on getting easier

Start small. Read 5 pages each day, no matter how tired or depressed you are. Getting into that habit is the hardest part. Slowly you will start reading more.
