You want to produce good writing, or you want to "be a writer"?

Because if you want to write, you'll enjoy writing, even though there is a lot of suffering involved.

I enjoy writing, I can do it for hours on end, I adore it. Reading, on the other hand, is painful for me.

how can you hate reading? I've never understood this. Do you have an incomprehension of anything that's written or are you simply far too narcissistic, thinking reading other works will just inhibit yours and your life? Either way, sage your life

this is completely wrong. Film is, most often, a watered down form of literature. It is honestly farcical that you think this but lmao good luck with your writing

>how can you hate reading
Not him, but I've pretty much stopped reading because anything well-written is inevitably boring, and anything interesting is inevitably terribly written.

There are no words to express how little I care about the humdrum dramas of random fucking people, which is what most of "real literature" concerns itself with. Yet there is nothing outside of this fart-sniffing pursuit of higher art that is well-written.

So I don't read anymore, because my tolerance for bullshit is razor thin.

I can sort of see what you mean. I don't necessarily agree, but I can see what you mean.

You don't really like reading, though maybe you like the concept of literature. And your reasoning seems near enough to why I love reading but strongly dislike /lit/: I may like reading, but I dislike /lit/ because I dislike listening to a bunch of asshats jockey around trying to pretend to be more intellectual than each other by hurriedly looking up shit on Wikipedia and posting titles they've never actually read so that they can namedrop shit harder than the guys around them all while affecting a smug attitude.

Anyway, at the end of the day, you just need to get over it. Because even though I just said all that and I know it could apply to me also, at the end of the day it's more likely just your own sour grapes projecting onto something external. Sure, there are writers that just write about boring shit and there are a lot of people who are going to pretend boring, pointless bullshit is intellectual (Look at modern art, A white canvas with one black line on it can be sold for millions for being "deep"), but that doesn't mean the ENTIRE fucking craft reflects that. Just stop listening to assholes on /lit/ that sniff farts for a living and just go along with your own tastes. For example, Dune is well-written, AND it's not fucking boring. Sure some fag on /lit/ might tell you that it's sci-fi and then chortle at you like a cunt before referencing a book of philosophy he hasn't actually read, but who cares?
