Just recommend me a fiction book that will rekindle my motivation for reading books. I now see reading as work you have to do to keep up with the pseuds.

read short stories, get a chekov collection
a lot of them are only ~4 pages and you can finish it in a few minutes and think about the story while you eat breakfast

It looks like "slightly off the beaten track edgy stuff that people pretend is incredible but is obviously worse than mainstream"-core

>> No.10956783

>>10956780

Just to add: People pretend to like this stuff a lot because you can get the pseud cred (such as liking m&d and Pynchon) without the intellectual pressure of having to "successfully analyse" the book (e.g., Gravity's rainbow) because the academics haven't paid much attention to it.

I made the chart I can talk about any of the books in depth. Also I don't appreciate your condescending tone, I am trying to help.

Don't ever actually read what /lit/ recommends. I've been burnt way too many times.

Why is Robert Penn Warren evidently sooooo pissed off at Huey Long? Was Long really *that* bad?

Also, why Warren's turn from Southern trad (circa his John Brown book) to whatever he morphed into?

I really don't think it was a character assassination piece, if anything I felt it was rather sympathetic. Warren writes "The Boss" as someone capable, intelligent, and compassionate but over-reaching and flawed. As to your second question I think it's answered in the novel quite well by the description of the highway - it's shiny and too clean and straight and if a car crashed there is still gonna be some form of indentured servant around to witness it.

it is a bit hideous, isn't it? it's not even the final form though so calm yer vampire tittays
