Is this a real theory? I sympathized with him, I think we can all remember times we did something stupid just to prove we could. He isn't a good person, but neither am I.

I read it when I was 21, I was deeply unnerved because everything about the underground man was in line with my mire of self-aware dread that I'd never been able to pin down until I saw it "in person".
The whole sequence with the prostitute girl was like an r9k greentext thread that hits so close to home it becomes hard to keep reading.
