If you are a native English speaker reading fiction, it's probably better to get it electronically. If it's older stuff you may be able to get it free.
I've gotten stuff like Walden, Emerson, etc for free.

Most translations and non-fiction should be read in print.

Pirating everything as an ebook and then purchasing a nice hardcover copies of your favourites is the true path of the patrician.

If you are suffering from PostLasikComplications (in my case higher order aberrations because the optical zone diameter is smaller than my pupil diameter; more on that topic here http://www.lasikcomplications.com/largepupils.htm)) you choose the eReader.
I had my Kobo Glo HD already a year before Lasik, and rarely used it because I enjoy print books much more. I just love to write notes, mark with an orange highlighter and fold pages.
But since my dim light vision is completely destroyed by this stupid, useless refractive surgery (seriously, never trust modern doctors) I need a book with backlight (shrinks my pupil -> much better vision) and big letters.
Thats why eBooks came to my rescue.

I am a pleb and also do not deserve my own life. But this is my opinion and should have some weight: old books and diaries without copyright should be on your Kindle and also guilty pleasure pulpy garbage should be hidden to your E book. Keep open your limited physical space for tough reads like study material, devotional works or dense tomes and foreign language stuff. But, a last big warning: E readers are fantastic at keeping dictionaries nearby during convenient times. It is possible to use this as the one reason for endorsing them, but they have many other uses as well.
