Just finished House of Leaves. I personally found it a fantastic piece of work, although very confusing in parts. May have to re-read to get the full effect. The rarely seen manipulation of the text itself in such a far-reaching manner was something unexpected.

What are some books I should check out based on that?

You might enjoy Derrida's Glas.

Ahh I see. Anything post-modern or meta-fictional out there too?

Derrida's Glas is basically both.

You might also look into Borges (try Labyrinths for a taste) and Calvino (try Invisible Cities).

I'd plump for "If On A Winter's Night A Traveller" over "Invisible Cities" but both are awesome.

Also "The Castle of Crossed Destinies".
