Am I going to miss much if I just find a plot summary of this somewhere, /lit/? I feel like it's the single worst, must dreadfully slow piece of 'literature' I've read in a long time, and I suffered through A Room of One's Own.

Pretty much this. It's not boring. You want boring? Try reading The Red and the Black

Not OP, but hey, I found it boring and I've been reading classic literature for the past 4 years. I can't understand why people say W & P or Brothers K is boring, but Madame Bovary? Sure, it's boring. At least the first half of it.

Maybe it was the translation, but whatever.

this book is worth reading. flaubert is amazing.

Why did you put literature in quotes? are you implying it's not real literature unless it's exciting to you, personally?

>> No.1079673

Madame Bovary IS boring. Flaubert is a crap author. Both Balzac and Maupassant were far better.

You obviously don't get Stendhal's humour.

>> No.1079706

madame bovary is a really funny book

Because clearly not liking something means you just don't understand it. Man, if only we were all as smart as you!

Not my fault it's TOO DEEP 4 U

You probably don't like C&P or Ulysses because they go over your head too.

Yeah, while we're on 4chan, that's pretty much a given.

Also, wtf, Stendhal, boring?
