Is this series yay or nay?

>> No.10754597

It's wildly inconsistent because the author has no taste. The best of the series is excellent.

>> No.10754851

Nay. Ceaseless, unending gloom. Elephantine cocks. Rape monsters.Gay rape. Child rape. Vanilla rape. Massive swaths of the world building is cut whole-cloth out of real history. Almost every character is an amoral psychopath, the main exception is Akka, who is instead a giant cuck. No one is likable. There isn't an ounce of joy anywhere in this story. Reading this series felt like inspecting a bloody turd in my toilet bowl. It disgusted me, but I was compelled to continue out of a depraved curiosity to see just how ugly it could get.

It's an acquired taste. I vote yay simply because of its premise:

>What would an infallible fate-destined Mary Sue hero actually be like?

And also the dickgirls.

Bakker is absolutely unbearable.

>> No.10755357

The retelling of the crusades was really interesting, as well as bakker's take on the blank-slate protagonist. It has more intelligent writing than most genre fiction, but it can get a little tonally edgy. It's worth a shot, and you'll know pretty quickly whether or not it's for you.

Anything that is serialized means its just a cynical cash cow for the author. Fit only for children who need the comfort of constant familiarity

By series I simply meant the story is told in several books, not that it's released monthly or whatever.

Anyway, while we are on the topic, plenty of great writers wrote a series, such Dumas and Dostoevsky. Some of their best work was released chapter by chapter.

nay, very long winded and thinks its deeper than it is

all that would be interesting if it did not take forever to get to any of it
