Hello /lit/. I'm an undergrad English major in my last semester at University. For my women's lit class, our final project has us finding a woman writer who has been "forgotten by time". To give context, a lot of the female writers of the 19th century came to the public eye because their works were discovered and re-published (or sometimes being published for the first time) much later in the 20th century. So I need to find a writer who hasn't been re-discovered and who has at least a little bit of biographical information (at least enough to do a brief presentation on). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Maybe Maria Bibiana Benitez would work. She was a very famous poet and playwright in 1800s in Puerto Rico.

I *think* it has to be American but I could be very wrong. I'm going to jot that down and ask him in class tomorrow. Thank you!

Just pick any female writer since they're all forgettable.

Fucking lul

I forget which requirement it fulfills for my degree, but it satisfies one I need. It was either this or a class with the professor I took Native American Lit and African American Lit with, and she's a cringey sjw who's way off the deep end

I was a nursing major at first, but figured there's only one thing the certificate was good for and if I hated it there's nothing to do about it, so switched to something I enjoyed. I intend to go back for my Master's later, which may or may not be stem. I'm just freaking awful at math, although it is more of a 'learned' skill so suppose I'd be able to pull through with that thought process
