Is it viable in academic writing to use this kind of syntax?
>As a reader it is beneficial to consider why an author chooses first- over third-person narration
What I'm concerned about specifically is doing
>first-
Pynchon did it in Bleeding Edge, but I'm not sure if that's justification enough to do it in academic writing. Should I just go ahead and complete the hyphenation?
