how do you write with no imagination?

You write about stuff that really happened, maybe journalism or life experience.

You don't. Or do drugs.

imagination is a meme, you just write from your subconscious and then eventually a cohesive narrative will start forming. It's like complexity theory in that every new added element reduces the chaos until it seems as if newer plot lines are as much a necessity as they are your own imaginative creation.

Surely some authors plans ahead of schedule but it's not the only valid method for writing.

Imagination is not a meme. Just accept that you're a worthless writer and move on. You're going to do it eventually might as well save a few years.

Same thing failed film directors do: Review!
Write essays on the the latest books, you'll never write your own so give yourself a pat on the back everytime you crush some Uni' burnouts dream of being relevant.

It is, you can make the story as you go along, sort of like improvisational music or impressionist art. You don't need to visualize anything before writing.

Live a wild and interesting life. Do unsavory shit. Go places with weirdos. Perform live in some way, it really generates stupid adventures.

These are all good story fodder. hell, I've gotten most of my own sad attempts at prose from real life experiences.

You're still using your imagination when you make it up as you go along. Jesus.

Foster an imagination. It's not magic or anything, you don't pull it from nothing, but to be good at it you need to practice.

I suggest intentionally allowing yourself to be internet-deprived and bored, and engaging in things that actually require you to think and create. Instead of having near-perfect info available, just throwing it together into a new format.
