Why doesn't anyone understand that House of Leaves is a love story? It's not a horror novel.

>> No.1069101

Sure. *burp*.

Travel back in time with me to 1998 and a Summer where I took "Postmodern Literature". We divided up in to teams of "explorers" and each took a chapter to report-on to the class.

Near the top of my list of "most interesting books I've ever read", but ....jeebus....what a headache. It was difficult to get past the pretention (?) of pages with musical notes, and the word "house" in blue everywhere, etc.

Oh, and lest I forget: our prof had to point out the fact that the cover, inside the cover, the multiple meanings of the word "leaves", Danielewski's sister's music, were all part of the story and "WHAT COULD IT MEEEEAN?!"

Um, but House of Leaves was published in 2000, and so was Poe's Haunted. What are you talking about? (Also, explorers. COOL. I don't want to be the poor fag who got the Useless Geology chapter, though.)

pretty sure her music had nothing to do with the book
it's good though

hmmmnnnnmmm....:P....let me see....i might've taken that class in the summer of 2000 as part of the reading program....difficult to remember....deep in shadow is the Dark Side, yes....

When you get to college, and you're trying to graduate/get credentialed, you lose track of time.

it does. listen to the lyrics. That whole album was "coincidental" to Mark's novel.

It was related to the book but i don't think it can really be considered with the text itself
just practically thinking i don't think he'd involve his sister that much/she'd devote an album to being part of her brother's writing

no argument there

yeah i know its just a "hunch" and its really the most conservative i ever get about criticism but i prefer to think about the book as a self-contained work. not to say that i dont like the music or that it isn't interesting to note where the two overlap.

also WOW this song is a nostalgiabomb for me
i really need to reread the book

no, no. I mean I won't argue that point with you. I think you're probably right.
