Post your novel ideas. It's not like they're going anywhere.

A man in his mid-twenties who recognizes that he's on the verge of a mental breakdown flees his job and his city and starts living life as a vagabond. Part one covers his journey to California (of which he has a romanticized and distorted vision) by hitchhiking and train hopping. Part two is his mental breakdown, which takes place on a beach in Monterey Bay as he recognizes serious and intrinsic flaws in his biology. Part three is his perceived "rejuvenation" during which he decides that his mental and physical shortcomings will restrict him to a life of crime. He becomes obsessed with committing the perfect worthwhile crime, not because he wants to kill anyone, but because he believes it's his duty to make the attempt since he has absolutely nothing to lose.

You've been writing pretty fast, what's your average word count per day? I do 200 on a bad day and 1000 on a good one.

Let me ask, what are you trying to share with that story? I'm always curious what's the motivation behind a plot.

I'm trying to explore something that has been nagging my brain for the last five years: an increasingly strong desire to run away from everything I have and know, and the question of whether my desires are the result of mental illness or an alienating sense of self-hatred and distrust.

The optimistic side of me says that most people experience a strong desire to throw it all away and live freely and wildly for a short time, rather than safely and comfortably for a long time. The pessimistic side of me says that my biology is deterministic and the traits with which each of us are born is basically a roll of the dice.

The plot of the story is based on my actual travels. The material, however, is speculative.

I'm finished and on book three of my series. Here's the body of my query letter. Anyone know how to improve it?

Court martialed for treason, Private Dustin Dumont obtains a top-notch criminal attorney to keep him from being executed. However, she’ll only represent him if he can prove his innocence to her. That’s a problem, because he’s guilty.
Private Dumont has the ability to see magic but lacks the ability to use magic effectively, which makes him a pariah in the military. After his convoy is ambushed on its way to Camp Aether, a Special Forces base dedicated to unearthing the grand artifact known as The Hanging Gardens, he is caught in the middle of a deadly conspiracy to steal it. Worse, his squad leader was poisoned during the ambush and will die in a seven days unless Dustin can figure out who the traitor is. Private Dumont must brave the trap-filled ruins of Nineveh and activate the artifact in order to lure the traitor out. But will Dustin’s True Sight be enough to stop a traitor with powerful magic and Special Forces training?

A woman in Mexico unearths an old cup while metal detecting. She takes it to the local flee market to see if anybody can appraise it or give some info on its origins.
The local priest grabs her, pulls her to the chapel and tells her that the markings and inscriptions lead him to believe that its the chalice Judas Escariot made from the melted down silver he received for betraying Christ.
The word spreads and people from all over come to see.
The Vatican catch wind of it and send in Seal Team 10 (bishops with AR-15's) to retrieve it.
Why is it so important?
What secrets does it hold?
And why does the priest keep chugging Mountain Dew from it?

A person spends a day wandering around the streets wondering what they would do with everyine in their neighbourhood if a war broke out. Not satisfied with just fantasising about the idea they stsrt making conspiricies between all the neighbours and forcing a small civik dispute to happen where one person in the street gets beaten to death. The person is shocked but keeps it secret and continues to weave more plots.

Not really sure of the ending. I see it more as a series of stories.
