Philosophy is the means by which we can speak of anything as being relevant in the firstplace
Literally nothing could be relevant without philosophy

the scientific method, formal logic, modern politics and the zeitgeist of every generation in the last 200 years
philosophy works behind the curtains, inspiring all kinds of ideologies and movements (communism is one popular example)

Is this actually true though? The development and social climate outside of philosophy birthed these things, philosophy didn't facilitate or create them, it extended and padded them.

But in any given discipline, we generally see it emerge from philosophical work and the first major publications are generally provided by philosophers (with the exception of matgematics, and even there we can find counter examples provided by, e.g. Boolean Algebra, predicate logic, the foundations of mathematics, recursion/computability theory, and formal language theory - which, as I type it all out seems pretty diverse and lengthy, but admittedly it appears to be more than it really is, since these are all closely related and basically emerged at the same time, from the same work).
