Speaking as someone on the right side of the fence, I've found Adorno's works to be quite an enjoyable. I don't imagine I'll be bothering with Negative Dialectics any time soon but Minima Moralia was a pleasing read with many poignant observations. I don't understand why he is often cited as some crazed commie who wanted to subvert the West.

That's because the people who do so have never read Adorno. I'm far right myself and i fucking hate both the Frankfurt conspiracy theory and the term "cultural marxism". I think the new scapegoat of postmodernism is closer to the truth, but it's still too nebulous.

Adorno could easily be read as an unusual conservative, and many on the left did indeed accuse him of conservatism. He wouldn't have stood for modern day identity politics either, but would probably have dismissed these things as bourgeoise distractions.

I'm a leftist and I kinda hate Adorno because he was too much of a brainlet and a beta with a thirst for power, and ended fucking Benjamin's career up because of that. Also, if the possibility of going to the US hadn't showed up I believe Benjamin would have fucked off to south America sooner and would have escaped the nazis, so there's also that.

Being a musical tradfag itself betrays an ignorance of biology and the history of music overall. Adorno can get a bit of a pass because the neuroscience wasn't as developed then, but even all that bullshit aside, his judgments about the intentions of musicians and how musical ideas develop as people compose and reinterpret them is analogous to reading a virgin explain how to have sex. I'm all for arguing for personal taste on intellectual grounds, but he just doesn't know what he's talking about, which is odd for someone who had a good grasp of music theory.
