Why are literature scholars such hacks?

From Dorothy L. Sayers' analysis of Dante's Inferno:
>the surrender to sin which began with mutual indulgence leads by an imperceptible degradation to solitary self-indulgence

From Schmoop's analysis of Blake's Auguries of Innocence:
>The American diplomat Henry Kissinger once said, "Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac." Maybe so—but, according to Blake, it's also poison

It's like they're actively competing to write the most unintelligible analysis while throwing in a bunch of quotes from unrelated sources. This is the case from the unknown to the most renowned academics.

>according to Blake, it's also poison
If that were true Kissenger would be dead, not an unholy demon who gains ten years on earth for every child's soul he delivers unto Satan

>Henry Kissinger
>A man who single handedly (olay. . . along with the assistance of the US military as well as the US geopolitical and beaurcratic apparatus provided by the federal government) helped spread freedom, democracy, and prosperity to literally dozens of impovershed and oppressed countries - no mention that in doing so he saved, liberated, and improved the live of thousands, if not millions of innocent civilians.

Dorothy L Sayers was an advertising writer. Calling her a scholar is like calling her "Guinness is Good for You" slogan a medical degree.

Maybe you just aren't on their level buddy. It's perfectly plausible that you don't understand their arcane way of communication or thought process because you're just a filthy /lit/ casjj.

These fuckers have PhDs and/or spend their days purely reading, analyzing that reading, and writing. This why you might find them "unintelligible."
