Are there any good books that are entirely like the first chapter of Slaughterhouse Five?

One of my favorite quotes from the chapter, about Vonnegut taking his daughter and her friend on a trip.
>the little girls were wearing white party dresses and black party shoes, so strangers would know at once how nice they were.

I am interested in this as well.

Bukowski's novel are somewhat similar in tone I Guess? (Even then it's a big stretch)
I'd recommend sampling Ham on Rye or Post Office if you're interested

What's the first chapter of Slaughter-House Five? I can't recommend something in good faith if I have no baseline besides this vague "first chapter" that's at the current moment inaccessible to me.

Read "Kokoro" by Natsume Soseki
