Guys, I loved the sun also rises. But I want to read other books like it, except better.
Suggestions?

I'm worried that reading hemmingway is making my own writing shittier.

If anything it'll make your writing leaner and manlier. Now thank Papa for all he's done for you.

Hemmmmmmingway writes very well, but reading him makes you want to write in his style and it is very hard to write well in that style

His writing isn't shitty, but he does have way too much influence on modern fiction. Especially short fiction, it's stifling and very few do it like he did. Pick up any O. Henry Awards Collection and you'll see legions of imitators.

yeah. i enjoy and appreciate his writing, but it influences me as a writer, and just makes what i'm doing sound very cut n dry.
