We're having a /lit/ meetup in Boston this Friday. Trident Booksellers & Café on Newbury Street.

Email bostonliterature at gmail if you're interested & I'll give you the time.

Should be a decent turnout.

>Why?

If you've been to university organizations, reading groups, or hung out in a cafe up here, you've noticed the stifling eggshell-walking culture. And also that no one reads /lit/ books.

>What?

Something in the vein of Ben Franklin's Junto. Discussion, critique, even a /lit/ oriented rag for exercising yr writing/editing/design muscles.

this seems like a good idea. if there's ever one of these in philly, i'd probably show up.

part of me worries about some undesirables showing up, but to be honest, i don't think those are the sort of people to go outside to a social event.

good luck with this. let us know how it goes

I live in Cambridge and I’m well familiar with the area. I’m literally going to show up and cause a major scene until someone physically escorts me out or until you retarded pseuds leave (the latter is more likely given how beta everyone around here is)

I haven't seen any threads for this event yet, and it's two days away. Have you been advertising it for a while? Roughly how many people are you expecting?

Have there been successful /lit/ meetups in the past?

Expecting quite a few. We've done this here in Boston already and they've been fun, memorable times.

I'm not sure how the DC or NYC meetups have gone or if they even happened. I post in those threads and make up stories, so who knows what to believe...

Anyway, this isn't a one time thing, it's recurring.

There should be a book swap opportunity. You give me Ulysses and I'll give you 1984, which once you get home, you'll realize has every second page torn out.

It's at a bookstore. We can all just grab books and run out at the same time.

Good luck. Just so you know I'm fully expecting a neo-fascist vs. communist gangfight resulting in the deaths of dozens of people to pop into my newsfeed

It's actually just Ivy Leaguers fistfighting over bullshit. I'm not even kidding. These meetups are the exact opposite of what you'd expect.
