I really like some of the stories in this collection but all together it feels uneven and some of the stories run together or are almost indistinguishable. He put all his eggs into Godliness and it didn't pay out.

pleb take
godliness is bad, but hardly central

It's by far the biggest story but there's nothing to justify it being so fucking long. And then he was so hamfisted with the generational and biblical aspects of it that it was a slog. It's not central in terms of relating to Willard's evolution but it's central structurally and pacing wise. It could be cut out entirely and not matter but it's there, it's big, and it's shit.

Yeah some people on /lit/ hyped this collection up but I was disappointed by it. A few of the stories were fantastic though, Hands and The Strength of God really stood out to me.
