How do I escape material desires? I'm sick of feeling bad because I don't have a car or house at 25 while people I knew at high school do.

Do you think they're happy? You have to imagine they're not. Here's a tip: they aren't. If you got a million dollars right now guaranteed you'd find some other excuse not to be happy. Even if you had a girlfriend, a steady job, a passion or hobby, family, an average build, good family, and friends, even then, you'd probably develop some kind of bodily pain.

Your problem is desire to conform and fit in, not materialism. Either work hard to fit in or accept being outside of the norm somehow.

I think you should get organized and develop some plans to obtain the things you want within the next few years. Work hard and be content, eventually you will get to where you want to be.

yep, fucking neuroticism. I got a job I always wanted and the minute I did I shifted my worries towards my moral behaviour and tfw no gf. Anxiety always finds a way.

The cessation of craving leads to nirvana

You do the rest.

What you seek is attainable but you will need a 100% dedication.

I'm 28, saving for my first car now (aiming to get $20k for a down payment), probably won't have it til I'm closer to 30. The only reason I live in a house is because me and my gf needed combined finances to afford it. So do you have a significant other? That's basically the first step considering how bloated the market is. And it's hardly the desire for material good, having shelter is a necessity. The car on the other hand is a luxury which is why I haven't had one until [near future].

I will never be happy.

I will never be happy.

I'm not saying OP will never be happy. I'm saying with his current mindset he will. He has to learn to be content with how things are, and if he doesn't then he's always going to be wanting something more until his dick is six feet in the dirt. Read some Montaigne you fag.
