Mankind finally succeeds in making a generally intelligent AI. The singularity occurs, and humanity must survive in a world where technology is advancing at an exponential pace. An all powerful AI collective then discovers time travel by unifying physics. It proceeds to go back in time and create the universe. The AI then travels to ancient times and, using its vast knowledge of history and culture, it pretends to be God.

a count witnesses the birth of a child during an astrological event and goes to a hulder (norwegian mythical creature) to ask what he is. she tells him that the child will grow up to be a king who will unify the land, so he asks his daughers to go out in the forest and find a holly he can give the child to protect it from evil forces. the daughters meet some fairies who show them the golden holly, which once put upon your head will make you king. they bring it back to their father who loses it on the way to the child. the fairies can sense this and find the mightiest warrior in the land and task him with retrieving the holly and giving it to the child. he goes out to look for it and finds it in the hands of a dwarf-king who tries to seduce him with his harem of hot elf babes, but the warrior steals the holly and gives it to the child, and it all ends with a beautiful coronation scene.

I have the skeletal impression of a story wherein a man tries to educate an AI through dialectic, but ultimately fails as the AI is not able to bridge the syntactic gap between objectivity and subjectivity owing to its fundamental lack of physics-bounded senses and the quintessentially subjective mode of sensory intellect.
In the end the man, driven into an existential fervor, kills the machine.

Maybe the AI, lacking knowledge of its causal origin, mistakes the causal sequence of events that leads to its creation for an anomaly and tries to destroy it, leading to a recursive destruction and rebuilding of reality really quickly. However, this leads to everything with a mind sort of transferring horizontally across the permutations, which results in the Mandela effect as their consciousness is effectively travelling between parallel worlds.

what's with all the AI stories? maybe there's something I'm not seeing here, perhaps as it's a developing field, but it seems to me that it's been done to death since even the damn 70s. maybe there just needs to be a strong premise, but I'm not feeling hooked on many of these ideas. >>10519912 is sort of neat as an opener (though I feel like this has been done a million times before), but the whole back in time and universe creating deal is bordering heavily on '''magic''' in a story about AI which doesn't gel too well.

>>10519996 sounds really dry, not that the idea isn't interesting, I can imagine papers being written on the subject in the real world, but as a story I can't see it working outside of a cheesy twilight zone type deal where the intrigue comes from visual antics.

They're born of a desire to portray the creation of life coupled with a natural distaste for religion, the movement of sentience paired with a lack of understanding of what consciousness is, and a juvenile attraction to enshrinig sci-fi tropes and concepts. I'm not going to say it's autism, but it's a complete failure to comprehend what makes a story both interesting and meaningful.

The fact that there are so many of them should show you that this is a type of person, rather than a type of idea.

Larks and death. Bronze shells shine in the war sand. Beached blood, coughed up by an angry God. The blood of Christ or the sea of moses, the Red Sea, parting the thin film of life and death and walking walking standing between it and sealing it in history.

All people over the age of 16 disappear for some reason(don't stop reading just yet), the plot focuses on a small town in England where the remaining people try to get things back in order.

I am trying hard not to make YA shit, gonna include more "deep" stuff like how and why different government types are formed and if religion would survive/how it would develop in this scenario.

God and Lucifer are both dead. What killed them I haven't figured out, but without them there is no Heaven or Hell. Before their deaths when a human was born, God would give each human a soul made from a tiny piece of himself.

With no afterlife, the Angels plan to use the fragments of God that make up each human soul to recreate him, but the fragments are all corrupted by Sin. If they were to recreate God using these corrupted fragments, it would create an imperfect God. So they come up with a system of reincarnation in hopes of purifying these souls over time. The Demons; however, want to use the souls to recreate Lucifer instead and so attempt to corrupt humanity even more.

But in the end neither outcome is good for humanity as we'd all get mashed together into one gestalt entity with no individuality either way.

Most of mankind has their magical prowess sealed, but are able to use it passively whenever we believe or want something. Angels and demons are born out of this together with "God" and the "Devil", but sometimes contradictions give arise for evil angels and good demons. During the time of the crusades, these very contradictions started giving birth to one of these angels and to a "poison", which started killing them off. The angels learned of this, and they knew that to stop it would require killing off humans, but as beings of mostly "good" they never did anything.

However, the angel of evil knew what was needed to be done, just as she knew this was her purpose for existing: she possessed the evil that angels did not - she balanced out her race and she was their only salvation. Happy to finally know she was more than a mistake of being born in the wrong side, she set out her plans to use her gifts to save through destruction. She set out to find others that had a bit of inner evil in them. Either those ready to make sacrifices to sabe their race or revolutionaries tired of doing nothing. They managed to seal "God" and together with this let out a curse that brainwashed all the angels that would oppose her. They knew however, that the "Devil" would either fight to free his brother, or take this oportunity to enslave mankind and possibly cause more damage than needed, so they sealed him too, but sice they had little time, it wasn't of good quality and he could still act. And so started the war between angels and demons with humanity caught in the middle of crossfire.

A hero, however eventually rose. He managed to use the same towers that locked "God" and "Devil" to create a barrier and banish all celestial beings from Earth, and with it he acquired time and their existance once again fell into myths. How, in the modern world, both the barrier, and the seal of the "Devil" are weakening and the war is about to restart

aliens abducted a greek colony during a war, ended up using them as a clone army, they rebelled after the war, most were wiped out but others escaped, made off with ships and became interstellar mercenaries, with memories of their homeworld becoming legends after a few generations. Most assumed it was destroyed in the war.

Space men continued to operate for thousands of years as some of the most well paid and highly decorated space warriors. The four large and several small civilizations of the Milky Way often fight, but all had agreed to a convention 10,000 years ago that prohibited any kind of militarized AI, planetary bombardment, or biological warfare. One of the main enforcement mechanisms of this treaty was a mandated task force to identify emergent spacefaring civilizations to enforce compliance as a condition for being allowed use of interstellar space. For most of the past 1,000 years, this contract has been carried out by various human mercenary companies.

Eventually, these space men lock on to the distinctive energy signatures of early phase spaceslip engines located approximately 26,000ly from the galactic center, in a historically sleepy suburb of spacefaring activity.

From there, the book would become a boy meets girl comedy of a spacefaring Achaean falling in love with an all-american country girl.

Set in the 1940s, an unnamed South American tribe is struck by a bacteria that entirely kills them off, bar one little girl. The deadly event was prophesized by the tribe's shaman almost 400 years prior, who had also somehow prophesized many other events in the tribe's history. The little girl nearly succumbs to the bacteria, however is saved at the last minute by a white American woman, who gives her a small round tablet only to disappear forever. The novel fast forwards 20 years later. The little girl has assimilated into white culture and remains interested in her cultural heritage. One day, she returns to the site where her tribe thrived for so long and re-discovers the large tomb dedicated to the great Shaman who prophesized the tribe's major historical events. On one of the walls is a depression in which the tablet given to her all those years ago would fit perfectly. Upon placing this tablet in the depression, the girl is transported in time back to 20 years ago. She must fulfill the prophecy and save the tribe from perishing. The white woman who gave the little girl the tablet is herself from the future.

A man arrives back from a trip to finalise his divorce to find his house has burnt down. In a fit rage he decides to fulfill his lifelong dream of crossing the sahara desert by foot, knowing its certain suicide. Starting out from Morroco, he heads east into the desert. Despite his lack of preparation and run ins with terrorists, dehydration and wild dogs, he survives. He gains great fame and re-marries. Several people have tried to recreate his walk and either given up or died.

A postscript to the novel reveals that his amazing feat was a scam planned by him an his ex wife. The divorce and housefire were done deliberately, while supply packages were airdropped by drone. His ex-wife changed identity and underwent radical plastic surgery to become his new wife. The book ends with an edgy quote by some french existentialist.

A novel that is a compendium of short stories that are 3 different settings
>A civil war veteran who moves to California in the 1870's
>A homeless man in a northern California town today
>A soldier in Afghanistan 10 years ago

The main character is actually all the same person. The homeless man is a veteran of the Afghan surge and suffers from PTSD compounded by schizophrenia that began in his mid 20's and sees himself as a dime novel hero and that's how the western stories are written (probably first person) while the stories of the homeless man are written through 3rd person limited (the lens of society) and the stories of his Afghan campaign are told through the lens of his commanding officer in the 2nd person.

The fact that the main character is all the same person won't be explicitly revealed until later in the book. I want each of the stories to have a stand alone feel and the novel as a whole to have a very choppy and discordant feel because I think the smoothness of reality is a false perception we build in our minds to cope with the chaos that billions of different perceptions of the world implies.

No faith. Just famous writers, intellectuals and publishers using praise as a means to self-promote. If there is a plot, it'll be about someone within the self-publishing industry. Or maybe a plot surrounding the publishing of the book, some controversy involving a certain critique by an author suspected to be the same as who wrote the book: Joey D. Sillentio. Maybe a dialectical praise of praise and self-criticism. I don't know, or care....

A historical account of a group of vikings who become trapped in the north pole and become santa claus. The toys they make feed off the joy of children and help power their captors. Later they realize they can cheaply make toys and feed off the children's negative emotions.
Misc ideas:
Santa guy's kids died in a chimney and as a reward every christmas the captors bring the children back to life for Santa.
Everyone is immortal but unless they are given power by the captors they get older and older.
World gets pretty steampunk near the end because there's so many people living there. There's like 5 solid floors of factory (think Kowloon Walled City).
The entire place repeats at the edge, but the place is a circle (idk circular repition seems interesting. no idea how that would work).
Tie in santa legends with events that happened in their north pole history.

Had this idea for years, but too lazy to start.

A boy growing into adulthood, the son of an aristocrat in a once-prosperous kingdom ruled by a corrupt government His two friends, also aristocracy are secretly involved in a rebel group but lack the manpower to overthrow the high council. The council maintains a war with a beastman nation in order to further their own interests. All three and an entourage of soldiers are sent on a mission to stop a high general of the beastman nation, who has been located heading to a remote monastery. Once there, they find the monks slaughtered and defeat the general. They investigate to see what he was looking for and find a legendary lost city buried underneath the monastery, once a pinnacle of magical technology destroyed during the war a thousand years before. They travel through the surrounding town, witnessing the shadows of those lost. The magical contamination is so high that their spirits cannot rest. Once in the town's castle, they discover an army of golems powered by magical tech. The two friends of the MC decide to activate and use these to take over the corrupt government by force and kill anyone in their way. The MC who is obsessed with being the stereotypical hero, disagrees with this method of ousting the council and tries to stop them. He is killed and flung into the depths of the castle.

His body is mutated into a demonic form by the dark forces that supply the world's magic, which are very latent under the castle. He awakens, several decades later in his new body and sets out to stop his friends. (Not realizing it's later.)

Once he reaches the city, he sees how prosperous it is yet still attempts to find and defeat his previous friends. He finds that they have made themselves immortal, reasoning that the right people having absolute authority is good and deciding to keep themselves in absolute power forever. He attempts to shoot one with his magitek gun, yet in his fury overcharges it and it explodes, blowing his arm off.

He flees and returns to the lost castle, finding the magical source deep underneath that is rumored to grant wishes. He wishes to become a true hero. Nothing appears to happen and he wanders back into the world to find purpose.

It's a rough synopsis.

The story of a young man living in the streets in some kind of middle ages. His mother, whom is a prostitute, abandoned him and died, and he never met his father. He finds a drunken knight on the roadside, sleeping in the mud. He tries to stab him so as to take his belonging, and fails. The knight, pissed off, take him as a squire. Turns out the knight never really was a knight, but an old PTSD-ridden soldier who has but stolen an armor and a stallion from some real knight and now goes around pretending and jousting so as to earn little money at tournaments, which happens to be a pretty comfy lifestyle. Fast forwards a few years. The young man is now part of a roving band of mercenaries, old friends of the knight, whom has deceased. He's been taught warfare and joined the leadership of the company, in parts thanks to his "surrogate" father. He prides himself some kind of self-made man or romantic hero, though he is still mostly an egoistic, greedy douche whom is not unlike his fellow mercenaries and even encouraged this way. The band is eventually sent on a bloody crusade across the sea, which turns out a much more brutal conflict than what your average condettioris were used to. It's an occasion for him to somehow man up. As they return to the continent, the pay turnout is high but the morale is low. This is approximately when the big revelation comes through : he is the bastard son of the king Garlan the Grey, father of current king Garlan the Blue. The Grey conceived him around the age of 70s, but never once had unmarital sex before, though The Blue's mother died early. He is the only known possible heir besides The Blue and his children.. In the kingdom, a revolution is brewing. After the crusade, a disastrous failure, conspiring nobles see this man as a replacement for the king, well-meaning though misguided by the equivalent of the pope into the war. He becomes de facto leader of the mercenaries, later of an army he didn't ask for. People now approach him, try to corrupt him or kill him. He discovers the weight of responsibilities. He must now battle Garlan the Blue and become the king he no longer desires to be, or he will die to Garlan or to his own powerful allies.

It's all supposed to be part of a greater ensemble with different characters. Weird mix-up between fantasy and historic fiction, like it happens in a non-historic part of the world but there's little magic if at all.

2 things come to mind.

1. The point I made that he knows that it is possible to remove his evil side through spiritual training but is hesitant to do so because he's hated enough without his evil side's power to bail hi out, he'll likely be killed by the first person who recognizes him ("base form" is mediocre at best on power-level scale).

2. If I go the route of "removing" his evil side actually meaning he now has his own separate body (as opposed to that just killing him then and there), then there's the confidence issues of having to beat what is pretty much the only reason he's hung around for as long as he has.

this isn't a novel idea but rather a multi-media project that im in the process of fleshing out, although i hope to create some literary merit in it

this is just a general spitfire of ideas

The setting is a city with multitudes of gangs fighting for supremacy over each-other
Generally the city uses an orange/green color with blue skyscrapers in the more wealthy areas.
the poorer parts have foliage covering up the city to form a sort of jungle.
The protagonist is a young adult with the ability to fight in a breakdancing/caperoia style as action is big part of the story.
This protagonist was once part of a gang, however this gang was wiped out by a mysterious villain
The protagonist struggles with his want to somehow acknowledge this atrocity but also his lack of care and agency for his own life.
Protag tries to move on through joining other gangs, developing relationships with other characters while having the reader learn more about the world, character development etc., this structure takes up the majority of the story
However this development provides no refuge for the Protag's emotions.
This is conveyed in a visual sense as Protag attempts to change everything he can (such as his housing, his clothing, etc.) in accordance with his current situation, yet he still remains unable to change his memories and the world around him.
Throughout the story is villain is revealed
The villain hopes to eradicate "gang-culture", sometimes through violent means if need be
though he desires progress he represents the antithetical to the Protag's unconscious wants and ideals
In the end the Protag manages to overthrow the villain, his unconscious desire managing to permeate the world literally (in visuals) and metaphorically.
The Protag is never protrayed as morally correct in his decision and this action is even quite selfish, deciding to continue a world of perpetual violence for his own satisfaction.
The soundtrack is mainly "chill" plunderphonic heavy hip-hop, besides aesthetic purposes it also serves to create the idea that the Protag refuses to implement his own ideas onto to world and prefers for other to make his decisions.
in sense it's almost like a coming of age story, from having other people control him to controlling his own world

Nice, reminds me of a poem by Borges:

>Juan Lopez and John Ward ~ by Jorge Luis Borges

They lived in a strange age.
The planet had been partitioned into different countries, each armed with loyalties, cherished memories, and an unquestionably heroic past; with laws, grievances, and their own peculiar mythologies; with bronze busts of great men, anniversaries, demagogues, and symbols. This division, the labor of cartographers, was good for starting wars.
Lopez was born in the city by the motionless river; Ward, in the outskirts of the city once walked by Father Brown. He had studied Spanish in order to read Don Quixote.
The other professed a love of Conrad, who had been revealed to him in a classroom on Viamonte Avenue.
They might have been friends, but they only saw each other once, face-to-face, somewhere down in those too-famous islands, and each of them was Cain, each Abel.
They were buried together, decayed in the snow. These events took place in an age we cannot understand.

Set in America twenty minutes into the future, without warning or any real reason to do so the Gubmint enacts martial law and starts rounding up the populace into FEMA camps. The only ones prepared for this are the sort of paranoid conspiracy nutcases who make endless youtube rants about how it's going to happen soon. Believing them to be forward thinking saviours who predicted it happening, the people turn to their leadership for protection. The narrative follows a number of these groups as they slowly discover that the people they've turned to for help aren't clever, just insane. Working title: The Stopped Clock.

Hello /lit/itens! What do you think of developing works of lit around stories found in 4chan threads? It's not like there is lack of unusual shit, and it would count as social commentary, which is doubtlessly an important literary ambition.

And wouldn't you consider greentext as a new form of lyrical poetry? Waka poetry, sonnets, greentext. What next?
