what apps can i use to scan books to find their value?

>> No.10518836

If you can "scan" books they are pretty much worthless.

Their value is tricky, but you can get an idea of their current price scanning with the Amazon app. You need to consider both price and rank. Apps that let you trade in will give you a much lower figure.

Is it immoral to snatch up all the good books from thrift shops and sell them on your amazon store? More importantly, is this a viable business model?

Do you think they'd listen if you told them to change the price? Would the books even sell?

>More importantly, is this a viable business model?
I doubt it.

I just mean thrift stores are meant for poorfags so they can buy things to make their lives tolerable. It seems wrong to try and profit off of that.

when I go to my local thrift shop and there are three dumbfucks in my way scanning all the books and trying to take the books I have in my cart. I want to stomp their heads in.

I am a poorfag
Also, thats a misconception. Lots of thrift places use the money they get to fund things like goodwill.

I've been doing this since 2007 or so. Part time side gig. Full time work. Not much $$$ return. A few big wins, but nothing to brag about in the long run. I've made some regular customers of home schoolers, putting together books for a complete grade level curriculum, with bonus for teachers editions and guides. They seem to prefer older editions, pre-1980 or so, to avoid any of the politically correct editing that's become commonplace since then. I'm a car restoration hobbyist, and original, factory repair manuals (pre 1980, not after market like clymers) have been an area that's been good. First edition, /lit approved collector shit? Not so much.

nothing immoral about it. people do it all the time, and not just with books. If you need a moral excuse just consider the fact that you are putting the book towards a much larger community on the internet. theres a copy of critique of pure reason in my local thrift store and it hasnt been touched in several months. why? cause crackheads dont read kant.

Its a huge hassle to do this shit. seriously. but if youve got the time, you could make maybe a few hundred bucks a months. consider using ebay too, since most things are cheaper than amazon on there.

>>10519917
have you tried selling religious books or art books? those usually have high prices and are very popular.

forgot to mention:

thrift stores and ebay will give you some gems. however the best place for getting used books are yard sales and used book sales at highschools/middleschools. just write used book sales near me on google and youll find tons of shit. my old highschool has one every year and i end up spending about 50-80 bucks there and come home with gold. they sell paperbacks for 2 dollars and hardcovers for 3 dollars. its worth it to go just to expand you own library. i got a second edition morals and dogma for 3 bucks. one person got an original equinox from crowley my local school too. its usually crawling with bookstore owners.

protip:
if you ever see an old occult book at a cheap price, buy it. buy buy buy. always a good investment. most good occult books are limited editions and if you can find something from crowley or steiners time, someone will pay you fat cash for it.
