>read one chapter of my book and forget about it for a week

How do I start reading more? There's so much I'm interested in reading about but my mind is messed up by years of scanning Wikipedia articles about to sit down and pay my full attention to a book.

With the risk of sounding preachy, I'll assume you haven't fully read a book, I think that some books are easier on the first time reader because they teach you how you should imagine what you're reading and they prepare you for reading more complex or unorthodox books.

I reccomend you start with Moby Dick, or A Tale of Two Cities, they may not be the absolute best, but they're a great way to get accustomed to reading. Especially Moby Dick because it's so action packed, really catches your eye.

Don't get me wrong, I love the book so much I read it every couple of months, and I recomend it as the "first read" because it's so well put together, I think it's great, but I do understand people have different tastes.

It's surprisingly easy to pick up and read. And it's enjoyble too so it can be a good first read.

1. pick a moderately sized book that you think you'll enjoy
2. divide page numbers by 7
3. round up, and read that many pages a day, trying not to stop in the middle of a chapter or story.
4. finish a book a week.
5. if this doesn't work, vote republican and blame elitist for your failings.

What if I read moby dick at a rate of 6-12 pages an hour?
What if I'm 21 and English is my first language?
