Is an author just really proficient at shower conversations? Is this just the career field of those with daddy issues just below hookers?

An author fills a good portion of his time writing. He sees the expanse of his life as something that could go away any moment or last until old age.
He reacts to this notion by filling his time writing novels because, why not?
He fills his novels with all his thoughts and feelings, in creative ways he find interesting and endearing. He spends years on these endeavors because, why be in such a hurry? He's found a way to fill his time.
Perhaps people see his work as significant.
This means little to nothing to him because he is busy working for no reason other than to fill his hour glass. He is busy doing his time in life.
In itself, it's just as depressing as any other action, but a writer or artist finds comfort beyond monetary gain, beyond societal norms, beyond everything a person can gain. He finds his little papers of the utmost importance, and builds a strange meaning for himself there whether he agrees or not.

A multitude could be said, but...
Right, buddies?
