What am I missing? Halfway through and I'm having a hard time finishing. The characters don't develop, it's just more of the same over and over. There's no central conflict. There's no one to cheer for. Is it worth the effort in the end? Does it ever develop a plot?

>tfw I had to put this book down because I related too much to the main character and the whole plot is putting him down

For the most part it’s just a really funny book, if you don’t enjoy it just go back to watching Family Guy or le Szechuan sauce scoence show

Me too. I was reading about a likable schmuck who was idealistic but just couldn't relate to other people. I could feel the author reaching out but not knowing how. Poor guy.

It kinda drags on and the non-Ignatius chapters are forgettable, if you don't like the main character for what he is then you won't like the book.

the characters do develop, there is a plot - all the the separate threads converge at the end.
just finish it and then make up your mind, it's not that long
