only insofar as it is an argument against highly centralized government. taleb argues that decentralized government is antifragile and that its a good thing to be antifragile.

OP should be aware there are many bad things which are antifragile as well such as the feminist hydras I went to uni with; being antifragile is good for the thing being so but competing antifragile systems can cause a lot of harm (including anarchic societies).

I've read the book, but hoping this will evoke a discussion. I thought systems science has said that specialization and hierarchy are necessary for complex systems.

I read two NNT books and 9/10ths of it were spent on anecdotes about how smart he is

Taleb's career:
Taleb: "here's a thing IYI economists don't know"
actual economists: "well, actually everybody in the field knows this, this is nothing new or original"
Taleb: "shut up, you imbecile interventionista, I bet you don't even deadlift"

specialization and hierarchy are necessary for complex systems that exist to support specialization and hierarchy

all social structures are hierarchies of some sort

I think so too. If we look at the animal kingdom some are more egalitarian as others though. Spotted hyenas are notorious for their hierarchy, while African painted dogs and dholes are said to be more egalitarian.

Not necessarily. A vast amount of social relationships are mutually reciprocal, if not explicitly cooperative. Even within capitalism, we can see basic communal relationships, like between suburban neighbors, as being basically non-hierarchical.
