Jokes on you, I'm always currently writing my first novel since I mainly write poetry

>Grimm themes and on screen character death but still family friendly for the most part
>Structured like a regular cartoon where there's continuity around a consistent over arching plot but the chapters are episodic monster-of-the-week type of mini arcs
>Story centers on typical supernatural town the MC has moved to where weird things are happening
>Mix between the supernatural and daily life segments
>Each of the main kids have an insecurity to overcome as the story goes on using both the daily life and supernatural elements
>One kid lacks empathy due to not being social, one feels the guilt of a past mistake and won't let himself move on, one kid is shy and suppresses her emotions to avoid people getting to know her and making a negative opinion on her, etc.
>Fluff in between to pad out the relationships

Would you think it's a decent idea for a first time?

>been stuck at ~40,000 words for days
>know exactly where I want the plot to go
>have a bullet-pointed list of events running from the current moment to the end of the book
>everything makes logical sense and fits each character's motivation, but just doesn't feel "right" somehow
plz help

Mine's about a depressed professor who has sex with a colleague and one of his students. How can I avoid it being a meme? This isn't some fantasy fulfillment, and he loses his job and girls sex by the end of it. Debating on whether he should or shouldn't have any purpose at the end. I don't think there are too many meme books like this in my language since most literature is relegated to Jews and how bad the nazis are and stuff. I think the humor may be too much though.

Maybe the plot makes too much sense and in your mind you know its boring.
