So I just finished Cat's Cradle, and read Slaughterhouse-Five a few weeks ago.

I have to say I enjoyed both, but I don't know where I stand on which is better.

SF definitely had a better, more plausible story (probably because a lot of it was based on a true story), but Cat's Cradle's ideas were much better I think. It was funnier, and the commentary on human actions, and religion were more interesting.

Your thoughts?

tough choice - I'm really liking Cat's Cradle

For now I'll say Slaughterhouse Five but we will see

Also, I just started Breakfast of Champions and it's already the funniest of all 3.

Player Piano is next.

I thought /lit/ were Vonnegut fans.

SF5 was the first Vonnegut I read, and a lot of it still sticks with me. Great book.
Today I finished The Sirens of Titan, and though I can't recall exactly how CC went, I'm pretty sure I liked it more than SoT.
I think I'm going to try Timequake next time I'm in the mood for some Kurt V.

Protip: They're all overrated crap.

I couldn't get into Timequake at all, and was sort of tricked into thinking it was another classic sci-fi-ish book of Vonnegut's but it's not.

It's actually him talking about a book he tried to write for years, but gives up on. He talks about that book and other autobiographical stuff along the way, and works in Kilgore Trout some too. It's actually kind of confusing.

Cat's Cradle was better in my opinion. Sh5 was still good though. Sirens of Titan was actually my favorite .

SH5 tricks sci-fi fans into reading an antiwar story.

Slaughterhouse is one of my least favourite books by Vonnegut

I agree with this.

I preferred Cat's Cradle. I haven't read either of them in a while, though, so I should probably re-read them both at some point because I remember very little about them.
