Start taking nootropics. Ability to retain new information (long-term memory) is hard-wired/inborn.

>buy pocket notebook
>write pages of vocab words and poems to remember
>remember tons of new words and whole poems
>one year later
>find my old notebook
>read hundreds of words I had learned but now can’t remember the definition to 1% of them

Just use a page like vocabulary dot com. You can access it from your phone, it's gamified so it will feel like """fun""". It was actually fun for me, I used it for about two days when preparing for the GRE. Then again I actually enjoyed taking the GRE and TOEFL, too, so maybe I'm not representative.

Try reading in slower pace or less per day but more often. Take more breaks. dont lookup every word, but just a few.

kek. """nootropics""" are just a stupid meme.

Because what you're doing isn't enough, my friend. I've been in the same boat. You need to exercise your new words by using them in sentences. It isn't enough to just look up the definition and go over them, hoping rote memorization will take over. Start a diary/journal and incorporate those words in.

Write. Speak.
Like with any skill, you learn from practicing the art yourself, not from consuming the product.
