Method of Loci.

Haven't memorized much poetry, but have done some scripture. I like the game where you write down only the first letter of each word, then have to go through and repeat the passage with only the first letters to prompt you.

Recite it out loud, repeatedly, to a tune. Once you get it to music, correct and instead focus on proper intonation and inflection, since the music and beat does change this, the music is just a mnemonic tool.

My favorite method of memorizing poetry, you can Google it to learn more about it, is actually called "The game"

>> No.10361646

I haven't memorized poetry since earlier school days, but usually rote memorization. Works just fine if you are persistent, as I still can recite fully the Chinese poem "Night Docking Under Maple Bridge" or whatever it is called nearly flawlessly. Didn't have to memorize the English title though

The game is perverse because in order to win you must deny yourself the pleasure of looking at the chicken. We are the true winners for breaking out of our self imposed shackles and gazing upon that great image of a chicken.
