It is fucking grand.
Funny how it gets critizied by modern authors for being "racist" and "colonialistic", and blaming Joseph Conrad for describing things the way they probably just were. Just imaging at these times, going to Africa was like going to fucking Mars for all the differences that there were. Furthermore he has sympathy for these poor devils nontheless (not less or more then for everyone else) and is not straight up freeing them from everything human.
These writers expect someone to be so far ahead of his time with his writing (being critical about colonization (whether you can be critical about it or not, whatever)), while they themselves propose an opionion that is so unbelievable mainstream, it is actually sad, wanting someone else to do what they apparently are not even close to be able to.
