Have any of you guys read this?

Is it worth reading or is it just a meme book?

>> No.10318805

>>10318788

It's heavily outdated, and heavily rebutted. It was meme'd but there's interesting points, only a lot of hindsight is going on. Jared is also credited as being one of (((them))), and follows the mainstream school of anthropology that quite literally takes humans out of nature (i.e denying phenotypes and genetic variation has any impact in observed differences among populations). I wouldn't recommend it other than for the minor historical value of its success, and only after you have looked into more recent sources.

It's been refuted

As they say, it does have a number of inaccuracies but I think it's an important read nonetheless, especially if you spend an extended amount of time here.

If nothing else, it's a reminder that that racial and geopolitical issues have chains of cause and consequence that are more than just "skin-deep"

The only interesting thing i found in it was the distribution of seeds and domesticable animals.

Ok, what's a better alternative to it?

It's very good entry level stuff; however, you'll find a fuckton of people who think it's trash because it doesn't have a white nationalist agenda (because David Duke is the most sophisticated intellectual ever).

>>10318873
It's trash because it's completely inaccurate. It's pop-science and it's been thoroughly debunked.

Good to know.
Please let me borrow your copy of the Bell Curve.

anon, just read it anyway.

Old data is always being overturned by new discoveries and interpretations and anthropology is a lot more subjective then real science like math or physics.

Take what's there, get an understanding of the issues and subject matter and then read more about developments in anthropology since then to compare and verify claims. That's the best you can do

Fool.

Now these aren't without flaws. But better than OP.
>The Horse, the Wheel and Language: How Bronze-Age Riders from the Eurasian Steppes Shaped the Modern World (fantastic book, maybe read it first.)
>The Origins of Political Order: From Prehuman Times to the French Revolution (vol 2 is not worth reading)
>The Discoverers: A History of Man's Search to Know His World and Himself
>Constant Battles: The Myth of the Peaceful, Noble Savage
or
>War Before Civilization: The Myth of the Peaceful Savage
>Ideas: A History of Thought and Invention, from Fire to Freud
>Consilience: The Unity of Knowledge (maybe)
These will cause offense:
>Cro-Magnon: How the Ice Age Gave Birth to the First Modern Humans
>IQ and the Wealth of Nations

Even "1177 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed" teaches you more.
