Judith Butler
I didn't even mind so much, but that professor turned it into a full male/white/middle-class privilege seminar. I had to listen for 2 hours about how bad I was as I belong to those 3 categories and basically all my potential achievements are nullified beforehand, because I only got there with my privilege.

One class had me read a bunch of proto-feminist icons from the 17th century to the 19th century like Aphra Behn, Eliza Haywood, Hannah Crafts, Emily Dickinson, the Bronte Sisters, etc

I actually enjoyed most of the reading, I just couldn't stand how my professor would twist their work to fit her odious, 3rd-wave feminist, man-hating agenda.

lol, back in highschool I took AP Lang and Lit where all we did was write ON PAPER. And I actually developed strong writing skills, and it was NOT EASY. A lot of the STEM nerds got 50s and the average was around 75. I was better at AP Lit than lang, in Lit I got 91s.

Meanwhile, I took two English classes in college. First one was mandatory "writing" class where we typed up bullshit essays, which were graded mainly for completion. Second one, I willingly took because it was called "Rhetoric and Grammar", I wanted to follow Peterson's advice on leaving college with strong writing skills so I figured I'd take a class to brush up on them.

Then entire class is a joke and has nothing to do with writing. It's LITERALLY postmodernist neoMarxist propaganda. First, the 2 weeks of class was mainly about getting to know each other's names. Then the class was about politics, "dialogue", how our identities influence dialogue, and E-M-P-A-T-H-Y. What a joke. We've got a final project in the damn class and I got a group with 3 other women (there were only 4 men, including me, in the entire class and 1 is hyper cucked, a 5th guy bailed out when he could) and they unilaterally decided to do "rape culture".

Fuck college, learn to write in highschool kids! I had hopes that the class would improve later, but it just got worse. Hate every bitch in that class. Most useless class I ever took it college, the only thing I got out of it was that I can now FIRMLY CONFIRM, that they whole Marxist propaganda infesting English class is absolutely true. I'm a chem major so I didn't realize it before, but now I know it's absolutely true.

You can get a good idea of whether or not an author is writing in good faith by doing a little research on your own. I googled Claudia Rankine, flipped through a copy of Citizen at the bookshop and decided she wasn't worth my time. Look at this picture. How do you argue with something like that? It's not poetry, it's a political screed. There's no attempt to change anyone's mind. No that was the only part I liked because I found it hilarious. I got triggered by the Doctor. He appears in ever chapter to ramble incoherently. Since he appears in every chapter and since his longest rambling takes place approximately midway through the book he is clearly important to the novel. But what am I supposed to get from him if nothing he says make sense? He doesn't respond to people's dialogue and no one responds to his dialogue. It's all just miscommunication. No one listens to him and he doesn't listen to anyone. I have no clue why TS Eliot lost his shit over this book. I now have little respect for him. Not only does he rip off Ulysses but he backs a piece of garbage as one of the 20th century's greatest novel. This book is garbage and needs to be forgotten. It's only resurfaced in recent years due to TS Eliot backing it and because she was a female modernist writer in the early 20th century.

>I had "A Vindication of the Rights of Woman" by Mary Wollstonecraft assigned 8 times during my undergrad.

Well, to be fair, this is as much a leftism issue as it is a teachers-being-lazy issue. With some exceptions, profs are not that creative when it comes to planning the syllabus, plus they don't communicate with each other as they should, which leads to a ton of repetition. I had "Eveline" by Joyce and Moll Flanders by Defoe assigned to me 4 and 3 times respectively during the same fucking semester. Many classmates handed in the same paper multiple times. For most teachers, SJWism is just a newfangled facet of a more general stupidity.

>>10313932
Too true. If any of you are currently majoring in humanities, the best way to identify the 1% of classmates who are not idiots is to see who's talking and who's not during classes. Most intelligent people stay relatively silent these days because they know their ideas will not be validated or even acknowledged in that environment.

Defoe's Moll Flanders
Behn's Oroonoko

A House something something something. I don't remember the name of the book, but it was the true story of a dumb roastie whore who decided she wanted to go out and travel to third world countries on her own. Not surprisingly, she gets arrested and raped by a bunch of niggers and muzzies, and then by the end, she feels bad for her attackers. Fuck that bitch and fuck the school for promoting her stupidity and trying to champion her. I think her name was Amanda something.

This cunt confused the lack of proper parenting for teenage angst and racism.

Trees were killed so that she could go on for a page about her first blow job.

In the blurb on the back cover, it promises an exploration of identity, when it's really how her first boyfriend explored her cunt and ass.

The author presupposes that the reader is a retard.

My problem was that my theatre department didn't value reading enough. They hated text-based drama, and favored collaborative productions instead. All of the heavy text classes I took were electives with very old, very traditional teachers who just liked teaching the classics. Those were great, though, and I took as many as I could. Lots of working on individual classic monologues.

I've never seen a left-winger give empathy the term empathy any other meaning than "feeling in accordance with my political beliefs." Their use of the term is a rather underhanded tactic to make the opponents seem mentally deficient, bt if you press them enough, you'll always learn that whatever sense of empathy they do have is applied arbitrarily.

I remember being upset about it initially because in English I we ready a variety, and here we were to spend an entire semester on 1 author. I ended up not reading any of them cover to cover, skimming as needed, checking Sparknotes, and (this was key) parroting how great and underrepresented this piece of black literature was.
