Does /lit/ meditate after reading profound texts? Just standing still for 30 minutes musing over what you've read can have lasting effects on retention.
I've been using Ben's Stillers guided meditation for a couple of months now and it's really helping me become a superior intellectual (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OboD7JrT0NE))

After reading any of Borges's short stories I like to ponder for a day or two. I'll usually fast while doing so, it helps with my concentration.

Agreed. I too spend days on end pondering a mere 10 pages of Borges.

My preference is to complete these meditations on a raft, with only some nuts and fresh water to satiate myself

i meditate but not by thinking about what I read that day, that ain't meditation and defeats the purpose of meditation.

Do you guys read at fucking lightspeed?
How about pondering WHILE reading the fucking thing?

When I've finished an incredible novel, my mind is on fire. I can't sit still or concentrate on anything else for hours or days. All I can do is go over it in my head, making all sorts of connections and associations, and feeling almost overwhelming emotions. Dostoyevsky, Kafka, Nabokov, and Hesse have done this to me.
