Am I the only fucking person on this site who has read this trilogy all the way through?

>> No.10174424

Is it any good? I started OP pic related and dropped it twice because it was really dense. Worth trying again?

the first book sucked so I didn't read the other two

Read them all. Probably my favorite sci-fi series.
Chasm City was my favorite of the series.

Worth trying again if you can find the second and third books
Just reading Revelation Space is a good way to get confused
Chasm City as a standalone book is worth reading, if you like that go for RS

The second and third books are amazing, first book didn't really click for me till I went back and read it.

I listened to the DD/TD audiobook and got stopped paying attention at some point, so I just couldn't follow it anymore and dropped it. DD is a good story.

Alastair Reynolds has some of the best prose in SF

>went back and read it
went back and reread it 3/4 of a decade after reading it for the first time*
It took me a long fucking time to find a copy of Redemption Ark

>Alastair Reynolds has some of the best prose in SF
i was honestly not impressed
is he only impressive for people who dont read lots of literary fiction normally? "best prose in sci fi" isn't a super high bar outside of a handful of outliers like wolfe or le guin, etc.

Loved it, read all three. And Chasm City, The Prefect

How is SF not literary?

>It took me a long fucking time to find a copy of Redemption Ark
that's why I stopped reading physical books. I have almost 600 GB worth of SFF e-books, triple backed up on various drives, including everything by Alastair Reynolds. I'm done searching for some rare antiquarian, used second hand stuff.
