what bukowski novel should i start with?

>> No.1016486

Skip him entirely. Read something better. Time's too short to read sub-par literature.

Fuck you.

Start with "Factotum". Then read "What Matters Most Is How Well You Walk Through The Fire" (poetry) as a compendium.

Then move on to "Ham and Rye".

Experience the drunk bitter old man.

personally, I'd go with Post Office and I'm speaking from experience, I read most of his novels and a lot of his poetry. My favorite poetry by him is in the book "Love is a Dog from Hell'', or ''You get so Lonely sometimes it just makes sense''

yeah i was thinking of going with post office seeing as it marks the beginning; unless this isn't the case.

if you're going for chronology it's Ham on Rye. Post Office is just my favorite of his books the funniest and the most bleak.

>> No.1016528

I read Ham on Rye and throughly enjoyed it. I would recommend it.

I've never heard of him so I'm giving you a derogatory response.
