Why do people think this is better than the Brothers K? It's not even as good as Demons.

Did this really deserve its own thread?

Yes. I'm genuinely curious why people regard this book so highly when it is completely outranked by any of his other works. The style is inconsistent, the themes are explored better in Brothers K, and it's one of the most boring things I've ever read.

There's another thread on this book already

Godamn this book seems so hit or miss. I've read CP Notes and BK, thought BK was overrated as fuck, looking foward to the political aspects of demons but am hesitant to pick up the Idiot because so many seem to dislike it

Like CP Idiot's a cleaner read than the Curiosity Shop (junk shop) that is BK. Really, it moves with Tolstoyan celerity.

The Idiot is my favorite novel of his.
It's by far his most colorful book. It's very dreamlike. It's also hilarious.
