Since reading Rings of Saturn in December last year, I've been taken by an intense desire to learn as much about everything as Sebald seems to know in all of his books. To this end I've bought three books (minimum) about the niche histories and unknown stories from the places I've visited on my own, and I've learned so much. I suggest that everyone goes on a long walking tour (I'm going to walk fifty miles in upstate New York in the Spring) and learns about the places they visit because it provides a sense of embeddedness in an environment.

This is poetry only, right?

Ive read lots of his short stories, but not too many poems, how good are they compared to his prose?
Did you read a translation?

The first half is short prose works and the second is poetry. I've read both the Giovanni translation and various others.

I see. I have this one, but tbe original title is so different that I thought it was another book.
I still prefer Ficciones though.
