Is this worth reading? Is there a better book covering the same subjects?

Everything from Yudkowsky is American STEMlord trash

There's nothing 'like' it since Yudkowsky is autistically focused on his 'rationality' garbage.

You could try reading 'Thinking, Fast and Slow' (even though that one is also problematic, i.e., Kahneman gave too much importance to some underpowered studies).

But at least it's from someone who actually works in the field and not from a Trilby-wearing Internet-fighting turboautist.

Turing, Dreyfus, Searle, literally anybody working in the philosophy of AI

The book isn't about AI though.

What else actually goes into the same detail of the issues with rational thinking though? He is unironically an autistic weaboo, but despite this he's made some serious philosophical arguments better than anyone else I'm aware of. Who else has so thoroughly demonstrated the absurdity of assuming P-zombies are possible due to conceivability?

Protip: there's every reason to assume the any sentience is in reality a philosophical zombie.

Well, if you're crazy enough, yes.

I would read "Thinking Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman first as it deals with the main topics in a better fashion. Alexander and Hanson put out better posts than Yud anyway.

To be fair, you have to have a really high IQ to understand anything by Eliezer Yudkowsky. I love how he combines two of my favorite interests into one book: Atheism and Harry Potter.

Worse, he's a jewish stemlord. His autistic circle of worshipers reminds you of parts of Culture Of Critique.

For some reason, I've noticed there are a lot of bronies among his fans. There were several trannies on the LessWrong IRC when I visited it a couple years ago.

It's not all bad though. Gwern's alright. Pic related is a great post by the former president of a big cryonics company where he BTFOs some community college intellectual.

This makes me more interested in the book.
